Default PvE Skill Tomes

I was thinking it would be really nice to have PvE only skill tomes so we could get the skills for our other characters, just like we can get skills with tomes for regular skills as long as we have the secondary unlocked. So, for example; as long as you have r1 of say, Asuran Rank, you would be able to use an Asuran tome to unlock an Asuran skill that you had previously unlocked on your account. This would be akin to being able to use a mesmer tome as long as you had unlocked Mesmer as a secondary and already unlocked that skill on your account. This would be so helpful in not having to repeat huge areas of Eye of the North for characters you only use in a campaign or two. The benefits would still not be as good because it requires playing EOTN to rank up, but it would also eliminate the need to do tedious quests for the skills(polymock etc) for the 4th, 5th, 8th times. Thoughts?

I like the idea, but I seriously doubt it would be implemented.

Hmm, the quests to get most of the best PvE Skills from EoTN can be easily done/ you can easily beat EoTN within a day if you're serious about rolling a new character for something - it shouldn't be too much hassle.

I don't like doing all those Asuran quests just to get Air of Superiority.

The idea is ok, but mainly not needed.

If you want the skills, go get them. If you're too lazy to get them, then don't complain. /notsigned.

I like this idea. It's boring and repetitive doing all the rep quests just to get the PVE skills (glares at quests required to get Pain Inverter and I Am Unstoppable). Of course, the effectiveness should match up with the character's current rank, and they'd have to be at least rank 1. But other than that, I see no problem with it. I don't want to have to run 10 other characters through GWEN just to get some semi-effective skills. Tomes ftw! But make them for GWEN skills only, as the Luxon/Kurzick ones, Sunspear, and Lightbringer ones are so easy to get.

Most are over-powered, so they require you EARNING the skills to use them. It isn't like Ash Blast or Dash, you have HIGHLY devestating effects on most skills, so why make a tome for it? It's just pure fluckin lazy.
And Tender Wolf, not to sound mean, but making a tome for skills that are "hard to get" is just insane.

The unlock system is meant for the PvP side of the game. Any Hero and any PvP-only char has all access to any skill unlocked on an account. Hence, PvE-only skills are not unlocked. Writing in an entirely new unlock system just for a handful of PvE-only skills is such a waste of the devs time.

Stop being lazy, go work for your zomgoverpowered skills.

Doing boring quests on each character to get GDA which I barely use is not fun

a lot of people saying its being lazy to get these on your 4th, 5th or even 8th character are totally missing the point. that's like telling a pvp'er that they are being lazy by unlocking a skill with Balth faction and that they should go make a PvE character and unlock it that way. I have characters that I want skills for, but I don't want to have to play through the bulk of EOTN for the umpteenth time to get them. Just like I use a tome for a regular skill so I don't have to go to flipping Ember Light Camp to get it for example. I got elite skill hunter title so i wouldn't have to go cap elites anymore etc. etc. It's the same principal with PvE only tomes. The other funny part about caring about this is, if you are so hardcore as to not want this or think people are being lazy, then you don't ever have to use a PvE only tome lol. It's just that simple. I think things like these are great when games are older. We have all had immense amounts of time in EOTN and a lot of us have max ranks in these tracks on multiple characters. this just helps those of us who want to use the skills elsewhere.

PvE skills, unlike the rest, have specific methods of acquisition.
You get EotN skills by making quests, you get Sunspear PvE skills with hero skill points, you get Lightbringer skill by increasing the ranks, and get Factions PvE skills with Faction.

- Faction skills are really easy to acquire. Even more with the cap increase. I have all 20 of them with my 10 characters. You just make some quests, kill a few monsters under the blessing or make some Faction PvP, and you'll get the points. And getting the skills counts double for the titles!
- Sunspear skill are a joke to acquire. They are 10, and there are 6 ranks that will give you Hero Skill points. And you can even trade skill points and gold if you don't have hero skill points.
- Lighbringer REQUIRE you to get to certain levels. No way you'll be getting the Lightbringer signet without reaching rank 3.
- And eye of the North skills REQUIRE quests to be made. If you have an asure summon, you made the Polymock. They are the proof of your patience.

So this can't be done. Forget about it.

You would still have to go through the game to rank up your pve skills. Just do the quests to get them + raising your title.

If you're not willing to do the work, you should not be able to get the rewards. There are enough ways to cheat/buy/cornercut in guildwars. PvE skills are for the grinders. Guildwars is a grind heavy game.

I think I should be able to get zkeys in HM pve drops. But its not gonna happen. I also think Normal skill Tomes should drop in NM and elite tomes in HM, but thats not gonna happen either. Give my warrior a lifestealing attack without the need of a weapon. Not gonna happen.

I find it totally not fun to do the same quest for 10th time. Especially if you need all missions from the area + some quests...

The quests are pretty easy. You can pick and choose to only complete what you need (ie, don't do quest to get melee attacks for your ele, don't get stuff that's useful for casters on your warrior).
